Sears vs. BayWe have compared to two stores both located in downtown Toronto , Eaton center location. Base of our comparison is clothing. The Bay store has an interesing design , you never get tired of wondering in different sections and perhaps suddnely find a good catch. On the other hand Sears store has an industrial look, like a straight line with different items on the two sides of the line. Sears lacks the feeling of surprise, While you can

always count on finding good merchandise at a good price at the Bay. Psychology of customers and human behaviour does not seem to play a big
role at Sears and the store design lacks the feeling of comfort or even style. Searse does not have a good combination of products in comparison to the Bay.
Good quality shoes are a rarity at Sears, for example Schetcher that makes stylish and comfortable shoes has no presense at Sears, while Bay has a good collection of Schetchers shoes. Good quality shoes are a rarity at Sears, for example Schetcher that makes stylish and comfortable shoes has no presense at Sears, while Bay has a good collection of Schetchers shoes. When it comes to clothing, both Bay again scores better because of wide collection of different brands available on its shelves. And from a customer perspective the most important of all, Sales, are much more interesting at The Bay. While the Bay has some kind of sales every week and often offers about 40% off their already reduceds sales prices , Sears sales prices do not even compare. They advertise sale prices of 70% off, but the quality of the product is low and it usually is on the whole season. Putting a product nobody wants on sale does not make a good sales technique. I personally tried to buy a pair of shorts from Sears on different occasions but they never had my size on the models I wanted. It seems restocking even on seasonal items can be a problem at Sears. In general this smart techinque that the Bay has employed makes the store a fun place to go because you expect to find good deals there and this will results in a feel good environment at the store which makes it more likely to purchase a product that is not on sale from the Bay than from Sears. |
